Los Angeles: McConaughey, the first naked bongo drummer to be named People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive, and Penelope Cruz, who survived a couple of years of manufactured weirdness as Tom Cruise's girlfriend, have broken up. "Due to busy work schedules and so much time apart, (McConaughey and Cruz) mutually decided four weeks ago that separating was the best thing to do at this time," said the couple's joint statement. The two met on the set of the movie Sahara and dated for more than a year. They had been spotted sharing a romantic dinner in Alicante, Spain, as recently as May.
