The number of people using Microsoft Internet Explorer are too many to be compared with any other Internet Browsers - either that be Opera, Firefox or Netscape. Though all the internet Browsers are available for Free Download, Internet Explorer is pre-installed with any of the Windows Versions. This might be the reason why people use it Microsoft Internet Explorer. However, this is not the sole reason.
Though many claim that the security systems of Internet Explorer is not good, but it isn't that bad too. It is not less than other browsers in My opinion. There are some services that lacked in Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or below but almost every weak points have been removed in Internet Explore 7.0 for which I myself downloaded the new Internet Explorer and installed it in my system. It didn't think of using Mozillas.. because I think Internet Explorer is best among all.
In the Mozilla Firefox, the search system included in right top is not as handy as that of Internet Explorer 7.0. Besides, many websites do not seem to be displayed properly in Firefox - this might be because of webmaster's errors - but Internet Explorer can properly correct those errors too. Another thing is, when types on the search boxes of different websites, Mozilla displays past searched terms as Internet Explorer do, but the problem is it gets selected automatically when I press enter key, which I really hate.
Beside all the drawbacks, on my own analysis, I found Mozilla Firefox quite faster for web browsing, but I don't know how true is it.
Due to all these reasons, I still think using Internet Explorer is a good idea. You may see Mozilla spending millions of dollars in promoting their product through Google Ads and Spread Firefox project. Despite of all these promotions, I think Internet Explorer deserves to win the race. Google is itself working for the promotion of Mozilla Firefox, may be because they're allowed to include their some scripts with Mozilla Firefox software through which they can properly read the behaviors of the internet user.
To verify my thoughts, I recommend you to download both - Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox Browsers and use them - keep the one which satisfies. They're free to download so why to hesitate testing them.
